So I run a small plumbing business and needed someone to build a simple website, just a few pages with contact info and some photos of jobs we did. Found a freelancer online, seemed professional, quoted a fair price. Paid half upfront, sent him all the photos and text. That was three months ago. He replied twice, then disappeared. No website, no refund, nothing. Now I need to find someone else for the same job plus some help with Google ads, but I have no idea where to look anymore. Has anyone here actually found a reliable freelancer who doesn’t ghost you after taking the deposit, and if yes, where did you find them? Would really appreciate some honest advice. Thanks.

Same thing happened to me with a guy for my landscaping site. After that, I stopped paying upfront. Now I use Zinn Hub. I put the full payment in escrow and don’t release it until the work is done. Posted my job, picked a freelancer who had done work for another local business. He sent updates every few days, finished on time, and I paid after I saw the live site. No chasing, no drama. For your website and ads, just be clear in the post and ask for examples. Saves a ton of pain. You got this.
