Hi everyone, I’m still kicking myself over what happened yesterday because I’ve always been the type of person who makes fun of people for ignoring their fuel gauge and here I ended up doing the exact same thing like a complete idiot. I was driving from Abu Dhabi to Dubai for a meeting and I saw the low fuel light come on when I was somewhere near Shahama but I told myself I’d stop at the next petrol station. Then I got stuck in a bit of traffic and completely forgot to look for one because I was stressed about being late, and before I knew it the car started sputtering and just died on the shoulder. I honestly couldn’t believe it because I’ve never let my car get that empty before in ten years of driving. The worst part was that I had my two kids in the backseat and they were already hungry and complaining so I was trying to stay calm for them while internally panicking because I had no idea what to do. My roadside assistance from insurance only covers mechanical breakdowns not running out of fuel which I found out the hard way after waiting on hold for fifteen minutes. I started calling random tow truck numbers but most of them wanted to charge me over 400 dirhams just to bring me a few liters of petrol which felt insane. Then I remembered seeing something online a while back about an emergency fuel delivery service Abu Dhabi that specifically helps people in this exact situation without ripping them off. I found their number after some frantic googling and the person on the phone was actually really understanding and didn’t make me feel more stupid than I already did. They said someone would be there within forty minutes and showed up in maybe thirty with a proper fuel can and got me back on the road. The price was fair too which was a huge relief because I was worried they’d take advantage of my situation. Now I’m wondering if anyone else has a regular habit of keeping a spare fuel can in their car just in case or if that’s considered unsafe here with the heat. Also has anyone figured out a good way to remind themselves to just stop and fill up instead of playing the risky game of how many more kilometers can I go? I really don’t want to go through this embarrassment again so any tips would be amazing. Thanks everyone.

I actually keep a small fuel can in my boot but honestly in this heat I’m not even sure if that’s safe or not. Just don’t be too hard on yourself because we all do silly things sometimes. For anyone driving a Rolls or Bentley around here, I highly recommend keeping the number of luxury car battery replacement specialists Dubai saved in your phone because trust me those cars love to die at the worst possible moments. Anyway glad you made it home safe.
