I’ve always been one of those people who fixes things only when they actually break, which probably isn’t the best strategy for a bike I use almost every day. Recently I started noticing several little signs that it might need more attention: the gears don’t feel quite right, the brakes could be sharper and the chain definitely sounds less happy than it used to. Rather than waiting for everything to fail one item at a time, I started looking at the cost of getting the bike properly serviced. I found Tyred (tyred.io) while looking at mobile repair options in London, and they offer full servicing as well as individual repairs. What appeals to me is that the mechanic comes to the bike rather than you having to arrange transport to a workshop. They can visit your home, office or another location, and Tyred covers common jobs involving tyres, wheels, chains, gears and brakes. For a commuter, that seems like a practical way of dealing with maintenance without losing half a day travelling to and from a repair shop.
